Kansas City, Missouri — J. Rieger’s Private Stock is an exclusive selection of single, private barrel whiskeys. Each barrel, chosen by individual retailers, varies in age, finishing technique, and style.

STORY

In 2014, under the guidance of industry veteran Dave Pickerell, Andy decided to leave his job in Dallas and return to Kansas City to fully pursue their long-held distillery vision. After securing a location in the historic East Bottoms neighborhood and months of product development, they relaunched the brand in October 2014 with Rieger's Kansas City Whiskey. 

Drawing from their historical roots in whiskey, they focused on a blend inspired by 1880s American production methods that used Sherry as a component. They combined Corn Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey with a 15-year Oloroso Sherry, leading to a successful debut during the 100th anniversary of Union Station. Kansas City Whiskey quickly gained national acclaim, becoming a finalist at the 2015 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.

In May 2015, Nathan Perry joined as Head Distiller, and the distillery began operations. They expanded their offerings to include Premium Wheat Vodka, Midwestern Dry Gin, and Caffè Amaro. In 2021 and 2022, they introduced Bottled in Bond Straight Rye Whiskey and Bourbon. Since 2015, annual barrel production has increased, with over 1,200 barrels of Rye and Bourbon Whiskey aging for at least four years in their rickhouse, as they aim to reestablish J. Rieger & Co. as a leading whiskey producer in the country.
