The "Rickhouse E" Influence
Rickhouse E sits in a lower, heavily shaded area near the Kentucky River with a dirt-floor basement. This keeps the barrels cooler, slowing down water evaporation while allowing the alcohol percentage to climb. The result is a whiskey that tastes distinctly older, woodier, and more concentrated than its actual age statement suggests.
Tasting Notes
The nose is a combination of fruit and floral with just a touch of sawdust, notes of orange zest and jasmine marry nicely with the barrel. On the palate there are more tastes of citrus fruit, baking spice, candied ginger and a hint of black tea. The finish is earthy and rich with a smoothness well below its proof.
