No other city in the US can light up like New Orleans at Mardi Gras. It’s as if a switch gets flipped and the collective energy of the city crackles into secret overdrive mode. Think you can get down with New Orleans at Mardi Gras? Better get your game together, because in New Orleans, they practice all year for this.
After more than fifty *consecutive* years in attendance, it’s safe to say that Craig Koerpel has gotten pretty good at Mardi Gras. His dedication to the festivities runs so deep that he attracts others to his hero quest, even running a de facto krewe (a kind of social club) that’s about to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
For almost three decades, Craig and company have gathered on the Saturday morning of Mardi Gras week at the Cereal Killer Soiree. There’s toasting and roasting with plastic cups of beer and sloppy dancing to rock and roll on the vintage jukebox. Craig, who goes by “King Ergot” for the day, presides over the raucous melee.
Crafted from corn and grain at one of California’s best distilleries, Cereal 7 Corner Barrel Bourbon makes the perfect toast to King Ergot and his Cereal Killers, whether you know them well or have only just found them, and to merrymakers everywhere.
This bottle is our homage to good company and simple fun in a dirty dive bar, to the city that doesn’t need a reason to celebrate, and to the exuberance and conviviality of Mardi Gras season.
