Wright & Brown’s Cask Strength Straight Rye Whiskey is a powerful, distinctly California expression crafted grain-to-glass in Oakland. Built on a 70% rye and 30% malted barley mash bill, it draws on organic, estate-grown rye from California’s Humboldt County and traditional sweet-mash fermentation before aging in charred American oak.

Bottled without chill filtration or added color, this is rye in its most expressive form—rich, spicy, floral, and remarkably full-bodied. The nose opens with cinnamon, dates, and cracked pepper, leading into a concentrated palate of candied ginger, clove, dark cherry, and sage. Apricot, vanilla, and lingering baking spice carry through an exceptionally long finish.

At cask strength, the whiskey offers enough intensity to reward a few drops of water, revealing additional sweetness and aromatic complexity while preserving its signature rye character. The distillery describes the style as distinctly different from the high-corn, column-distilled ryes common in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.
