About this bottle
Frank August Case Study: 08 Winter Wheated Reserve is a limited-release Kentucky straight wheated bourbon that explores the influence of winter distillation and extended barrel aging.
The eighth release in Frank August’s experimental Case Study series, this expression returns to the wheated whiskey lots used for Case Study: 05, with a more selective approach focused exclusively on barrels from winter distillations.
Aged for eight years and described as closer to nine years old, this barrel-strength bourbon is assembled from eight batches of eight hand-selected barrels.
Replacing rye with wheat as the secondary grain creates a softer, rounder bourbon profile, while additional time in American oak contributes depth and structure.
Bottled at 108.8 proof (54.4% ABV), Case Study: 08 offers a rich, layered profile suited to enthusiasts seeking mature, high-proof wheated bourbon.
